Cast-on Party at the shop!
Join us at 1pm on Saturday, June 12 to cast on your skirt amongst friends. We’ll enjoy coffee, cookies, and conversation, and help anyone who needs a little guidance. If this is your first skirt, don’t be scared! Come early if you need help picking out yarn. We will be sitting down at 1pm to get started, and I can’t wait to see what you all pick for your pattern and yarn!
Need some inspiration?
There are so many great skirt patterns out there, both knit and crochet. I know we can find you something you love! Check out these gorgeous skirt patterns (none of these pictures are mine. They are borrowed from the pattern pages to which they are linked.)
Here's my pick
I have pretty much always been a sucker for crocheted pineapples. I’ve crocheted several shawls with them, and designed a market bag. When I saw this skirt in my search, it was all I could do not to scream out loud.
Pina Colada… This is absolutely the skirt I need this summer! I am making some mods, of course. My skirt will probably only have three rows of pineapples instead of four, and I plan to make a much longer “hips and butt” section using a solid stitch. Possibly single crochet, or Tunisian simple stitch.
I already know that if I have to wear another skirt under it, this will hang in the closet until we both die. It must be wearable on its own, so modifications, here I come!
So then, which yarn should I use? Well that was an easy decision! I’ve been dreaming of this gorgeous new honey yellow Mantra ever since I get it in, and if this pineapple skirt isn’t the most perfect thing for it then I don’t know what is.
100% silk is drapey, flowy, and just begging to be a skirt. Paired with a black tank top, I can see this skirt getting tons of wear.
So what do you think? Do you want to make a skirt with us? Well come on then and let’s get started! Join us in the shop this Saturday at 1pm to cast on together. If you need help picking a pattern, adjusting sizing, choosing a yarn, or anything else, just come a little early and I’ll be happy to help. This is going to be SO much fun!
